Dr. Tamiko Smith did a great job as guest host. Here she interviews Lorraine Howard |
TRENTON -- 4 out of 6 ain't bad, Ken. We're up to 80 percent success rate.
The better news is that we're 100 percent with Dr. Tamiko Smith. The good doc filled in for Dr. Ken Gordon in this week's episode dealing with parenting, and for a woman who's never done this sort of thing before, other than serving as the first guest in Words2Action history back on April 15, Tamiko proved that she can carry a show on her own by engaging in quality conversation with Clara Hart, Lorraine Howard and Cher McCall. And yes, discussions are underway for "The Tamiko Smith Show" on Trentonian TV.
Tamiko was stiff, almost too academic sounding, when we went live but then thawed out and found a groove 20 minutes into the broadcast. She revved for the final 20 minutes. The bigger question is this: What did YOU think about her abilities to elicit and drive conversation about one of the most important topics we have as a society: raising children. Tamiko and her guests attacked this issue from clinical, professional and personal points of view. Did you agree with what they said about society's role in rearing children?
From a production point of view you'll notice fumbling with the webcam about 42 seconds into the show. I latch the Logitech onto my laptop, but it began to sink, so you'll see how jerky the picture gets as I adjust the camera. There was one another flaw, totally my fault, when I activated one of the guest's nameplates before it was time, but everything else went well. Well, except for one person making a bigger production about ordering Chinese food than was needed to at the time. I ask for quiet just two hours a week -- one hour for Carlos Avila's "En Contacto Con la Comunidad" and one hour for "Words2Action". Can't you just sit in your chair, put in your earphones and listen to a podcast or something? I'll give you a little credit, though: When you got up I thought you were going to walk around us to get to the other side of the room. Instead you walked to the conference room. So thanks for that.
Here are the production photos and below that the 57-minute episode.
