Vignettes from Vermont: 20,000 Words from the Vault


BENNINGTON -- That's Sienna from Shaftsbury reading Joey Kulkin's book "Chalk It Up!" That's a rarity because few customers pick the book up to thumb through it while admiring the real artwork at Fiddlehead at Four Corners. That rarity is not as hilarious as the metrics for "Chalk It Up!" -- still holding strong at 17 sales after three months.

That didn't stop Kulkin from publishing "Chalk It Up 2!" on Pi Day after eating Brad Pitt.

And it hasn't stopped the ex-journalist from beginning "Chalk It Up 3!"

Kulkin began snapping photos from the third volume on St. Patrick's Day when a family from Shaftsbury came into the gallery. Two of Jonah Thiem's daughters -- Sienna and Alura -- and one of Alura's friends, Ashley Carey, went nuts in the world's only Graffiti Vault.

And so these are the first three subjects who will appear in "Chalk It Up 3!"

As of today, March 18, 2013, there is hardly any space on the Graffiti Vault walls so Art Gallery Dude will be giving them a thorough washing because the chalk residue and gunk is starting to build up.
