Vignettes from Vermont: American Graffiti 3.0

Anna shows her Jackson Pollackesque hands covered in chalk
in Fiddlehead's Graffiti Vault. (Joey Kulkin photo)

BENNINGTON -- Gravity pulled Anna back to Fiddlehead's Graffiti Vault for the second time in 24 hours, and like Saturday she went nuts with every color of chalk in the box.

Then she smeared her hands in blue chalk as an ode to splat master Jackson Pollack.

Yep, Fiddlehead is Anna's new favorite place in the universe.

After 30 minutes in the Graffiti Vault, Anna walked up the stairwell to hang out on the east mezzanine because she loves looking down on gallery life.

Anna's mom, Jenny, chalked it up, as did two young lovers, Chad and Sarah, from Central Mass., as did a really shy teenager from New Hamsphire by the name of Haleigh.

The vault was chalk-full of artistry today.

Meanwhile, the fireball in the sky finally burst through the clouds about 2 o'clock and gave the gallery a 90-minute sunbath. It was gloriousness and gloriosity all at once.

Sarah has a Miley Cyrus thing going on

While Anna chalked it up for the second day in a row,
Haleigh stood and southpawed one of the walls

Haleigh's focus was pretty intense

Nervous at first, Haleigh
relaxed and picked up
several pieces of chalk

The design began with an eye

Meanwhile, the sunbath illuminated the cool glass vases
and Saturn bowls and other glassworks on the centerpiece

And the sun flushed thru the glass ornaments ...

... and even more glass ornaments ...

... even one more angle of the sun and the balls
(ornaments available at www.getartbehappy.com)

Haleigh's final creation

Meanwhile, Anna's mom, Jenny, shows off her chalky fingertips

Anna touches up mom's graffiti ...

... and then mom and daughter show off
their Jackson Pollack'd hands
beneath mom's corner graffiti
