Trentonian TV Production Notes: Interview with NJ's American Ninja Warrior

HAINESPORT -- Sports Editor Matthew Osborne jumped into the Trentonian TV mix with an interview of Chris Wilczewski, who is trying to become an American Ninja Warrior.

Wilczewski is a former basketballer and baseballer who fell in love with parkour, the athletic foundation of American Ninja Warrior.

Parkour, in its simplest terms, is post-modern acrobatics and daredevilry and running. The first time I saw parkour was in the movie "Breaking and Entering," which featured a teenage thief and parkourite who was central to the plot.

Osborne was the perfect interviewer for this episode of Trentonian TV because he not only loves the big four -- baseball, basketball, hockey, football -- and knows pretty much everything about them, but he also loves fringe sports such as wrestling and parkour. He probably knows the starters on Uzbekistan's curling team. Actually, I just looked: Uzbekistan doesn't have a curling team. But Uzbekistan does tout former racing cyclist Djamolidine Abdoujaparov, so the Uzbekistanis have that going for them.

Anyway, Wilczewski is headed to Miami this weekend for the first phase of this season's American Ninja Warrior competition. If he makes the cut, he'll head to Vegas.

Here is Osborne chatting with Wilczewski at his Warrior Lab at 902 E. Park St. in Hainesport.
